Bay to Breakers, San Francisco’s celebrated 12k race, returns on May 31, 2020! If you’re new here, you should know we do things a little differently. Throw on a costume (the more bizarre, the better), take in the atmosphere (you’ll have tens of thousands of eyeballs watching), and prepare for a running experience like no other. Bay to Breakers is a race built by the people. Since 1912, Over 2 million costumed runners, walkers and centipedes have completed the iconic 12K journey from the San Francisco Bay to the breakers on Ocean Beach. Bay to Breakers

A community focused event, St Albans Half Marathon aims to raise money for local charities and organisations as well as put on a great day out for all the family. The St Albans Half Marathon was founded in 1982 by local businessman, Phil Gibson, who wanted to raise money for a hospital scanner following the death of his mother from breast cancer. The first ever race was called the Mini Marathon and was open to runners, joggers and walkers. It attracted 1,300 competitors each paying £1.00 entry fee receiving a certificate on completion. First male home was local athlete Kirk Dumpleton and first female, local school teacher Irene Peatie. Recording the results was a labour of love for Alan Woollaston who sat on the gantry above the finishing line speaking the numbers of the finishers into a tape recorder, then working into the evening with his son to feed them into the computer. The results were such a major task that the presentations had to be made the following day. The event was deemed a great success. The North Devon AONB Marathon and Half Marathon has quickly established itself as one of the most challenging and visually stunning events in the UK. Taking place in June Halifax Marathon is going to be a great way to bring your summer to an exciting and fulfilling start. Incorporating a half Marathon, it’s already on many “to-do” lists for the year! The Route: is certainly a bit different. An annual event that happens every 4th of July in Seward, Alaska. It is known for quite a strenuous and challenging course leading to the top of Mount Marathon, which is 2,974 feet (906 m) high. The start line is located in downtown, at 4th and Adams. The race finishes almost at the same spot, just a block south. The total distance of the race is only about 3.1 mi (5 km), but it is not going to be easy as the trail is muddy and rocky. Runners have suffered numerous injuries here before. All participants are required to be in good shape and have a mountain running experience. Helmets, gloves, and other protective gear are recommended. Leading racers usually get to Mount Marathon top in about 40 minutes, and reach the finish from there in 15 minutes. The race course includes steep inclines, slippery loose rock, and shale. Racers must be ready to get themselves down the mountain even if injured since assistance is not guaranteed. The total elevation gain of the course is 3,022 feet (921 m). Celebrating its 44th anniversary in 2020, this hilly course is billed as a big city event held in a small town. The 15K is the premier event of the weekend, attracting national caliber elites. Along with panoramic views signature to upstate New York, the Boilermaker is known for its spectator support and challenging inclines. You’ll be in elite company as you wind through downtown Utica. The Challenge is an off road and self navigated challenge through the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside around Stevenage. This is the 26th year of this event. This fast, point-to-point seaside 10K—founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the first-ever women’s marathon in the 1984 Olympics—kicks off near Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth. The winding route takes runners along tree-lined roads with panoramic Atlantic Ocean vistas. A fire truck aerial ladder arch displaying the American flag marks the midway point, and a hairpin turn around mile six leads runners up a steep path before wrapping around into a homestretch that includes views of Casco Bay and the Portland Head Light, the nation’s first commissioned lighthouse and also the most photographed lighthouse in America. The Isle of Man Marathon is a competitor friendly event taking place on the picturesque course in the North of the Island, nestled between England and Ireland. The Half Marathon has been voted in ‘Runners’ World’ as one of the top ten races in the United Kingdom. Stunning Scenery and an undulating route await those who enter. The race, as in previous years, will be run over the Manx Northern course, starting and finishing in Ramsey. Start in Ramsey. Head along Mooragh Promenade past the site of the former Grand Island hotel and on to Bride. From there to Andreas and St Judes before turning back towards Ramsey. This 7-mile course is nearly completely seaside, beginning in Woods Hole with the first three miles on narrow, hilly, winding and tree-shaded roads. The most iconic part, according to the race’s general manager Jennifer Edwards, comes right after mile one when runners pass Nobska Light, a picturesque, historic lighthouse perched on the southwestern tip of Cape Cod and overlooking Martha’s Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands. The final four miles open up on the flat right alongside Martha’s Vineyard Sound, where a small steep hill indicates the final half-mile of the race. As runners crest the hill, they’ll see a giant American flag flying overhead, and they can see themselves cross the finish on the JumboTron. Bridge to Brisbane Day is the day to celebrate what makes Brisbane special. We get together to show our big heart by running for charity in the morning. Then get together with the ones we love in the afternoon to enjoy all that’s wonderful about living in Brisbane. It’s a natural human trait to feel that a good and healthy deed in the morning earns you good times for the rest of the day – Bridge to Brisbane Day acknowledges and encourages that feeling. Set in the stunning surroundings of Denbies Vineyard near Dorking the Bacchus Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K have rapidly become must-do events on the UK running calendar.  Most of the field turn out in fancy dress, there are numerous bands playing around the course but it’s the drinks station on route that separates Bacchus from other running races and epitomise the spirit of the event. You will have the chance to sample six fabulous English wines, at five drinks stations along the course with two wines served at the last station, with food and soft drinks to accompany them. The GMS Queen City Marathon has grown from its humble beginnings, in 2001, to become the largest road race in Saskatchewan today. Farnham Pilgrim Marathon ( or Half Marathon) has been described as possibly one of the prettiest trail Events in the UK. It is set to be one of the “must-do” events of the year again! The route is equally challenging but rewarding after all it is the Surrey Hills! The Farnham Pilgrim was awarded a trophy for the “Best New Event” after its inaugural running in 2010. Since that date it has been consistently highly-rated by participants. The race starts on Main Street. From there runners bear right along cobbles and through Sun Street towards Penistone Hill. After a brief uphill section, they pass the cricket ground and along Lee Lane to the nearby reservoir. The next four miles is on tarmac, over a stream and across an open moor to Withens Pub. The route continues across countryside, passing near Gatehouse and via Houghgate and Brookhouse reaching the halfway mark at the junction with the A629. The inward half starts along a footpath to Denholme Beck. Under a railway bridge to a reservoir, through allotments and over a viaduct, the route carries on through forest and across moorland to Hainworth Village. From there, runners pass along Black Moor Road, the nearby farmhouse and onto Penistone Hill. Then the last 1.2 miles onto the finish line. The Yorkshireman

A Local Marathon running event taking place in Rutland since 2016. The Rutland Marathon is a family organised event at one of the most beautiful venues in the country. The race takes place around the shores of one of Europe’s biggest man made reservoirs. The route includes tarmac, gravel and dirt tracks and includes most the circumference of the lake including the peninsula. The route passes meters from the waters edge and weaves through some of the country’s most precious wetland habitats. You may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a mighty osprey, even if you don’t you will still encounter some of the best views this picturesque county has to offer. Amenities and facilities are dotted around the route with established tourist spots including car parks, toilets and cafes. It is an annual point-to-point Boston Marathon qualifying marathon (42.195 km/26.219 mi) race between Lévis and Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It has been held in August every year since 1998 and currently can reach up to 12,700 participants in all of the events combined. Along with the full marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km, a 5 km and children’s events are arranged as well. The course distinguishes itself from other races in that kilometer markers are posted in reverse order, indicating the remaining distance to the finish line. Among other things, this allows all events to start at the same time and on the same course, from the appropriate distance away from the finish line. In this point-to-point course, you’ll tour two cities for the price of one. The race starts in downtown Minneapolis, then crosses the Mississippi River into St. Paul, where you’ll finish at the State Capitol Grounds. A firm fixture in the running calendar, the Eden Project Marathon and Half Marathon offers hilly multi-terrain courses around the famous site, following a challenging route through areas of spectacular mining heritage and beautiful countryside landscapes. Cornwall’s biggest running event returns on Sunday 11 October 2020, with a multi-terrain route through spectacular countryside. We created the course through Cornwall’s dramatic Clay Country not only to offer a unique sporting experience for runners nationwide, but to showcase the unique region on our doorstep. Take on the challenge of The J’s Chelmsford Marathon. A 26.2 mile single lap course on road and tarmac paths finishing in Central Park. The Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon has proved a hit from day one, quickly establishing itself as a highlight of the White Rose County’s sporting year. The since the inaugural event in 2013, the marathon peaks its numbers annually, as we aim to set thousands of runners off through the beautiful streets of York. The first half of the course winds through the city’s historic colonial downtown, before turning off on an extended out-and-back along the Schuylkill River.
