The Bienwald Marathon is a road running event held annually on the second Sunday of March in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate) in Germany. Two races are available, a 21.1km half marathon and a 42.2km marathon. The course is certified and very flat and fast. Starting and finishing at the Bienwald-Stadion in the town of Kandel, the route takes the runners (largely out and back) into the northern part of the Bienwald, a vast protected forest located on the border with France (pictured).
