The Scotiabank Calgary Marathon Race Weekend is Run Calgary’s premier event and part of the Run Calgary series. This celebration of our city brings together the run community in an annual gathering that raises funds and marks achievement. There is a 50KM Ultra, marathon, half-marathon, 10KM, 5KM family run and and kids’ marathon. NEW for 2020 is a 50KM relay! A community focused event, St Albans Half Marathon aims to raise money for local charities and organisations as well as put on a great day out for all the family. The St Albans Half Marathon was founded in 1982 by local businessman, Phil Gibson, who wanted to raise money for a hospital scanner following the death of his mother from breast cancer. The first ever race was called the Mini Marathon and was open to runners, joggers and walkers. It attracted 1,300 competitors each paying £1.00 entry fee receiving a certificate on completion. First male home was local athlete Kirk Dumpleton and first female, local school teacher Irene Peatie. Recording the results was a labour of love for Alan Woollaston who sat on the gantry above the finishing line speaking the numbers of the finishers into a tape recorder, then working into the evening with his son to feed them into the computer. The results were such a major task that the presentations had to be made the following day. The event was deemed a great success. Celebrating its 44th anniversary in 2020, this hilly course is billed as a big city event held in a small town. The 15K is the premier event of the weekend, attracting national caliber elites. Along with panoramic views signature to upstate New York, the Boilermaker is known for its spectator support and challenging inclines. You’ll be in elite company as you wind through downtown Utica. It’s Queensland’s most scenic and longest running fun run. The Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run takes place around the stunning Redcliffe Peninsula, offering four great events to entrants each year. In 2020, the annual event will run on Sunday the 19th of July from Pelican Park in Clontarf. With races ranging from 3km to a half marathon, there is a race for everyone to compete in. Bridge to Brisbane Day is the day to celebrate what makes Brisbane special. We get together to show our big heart by running for charity in the morning. The GMS Queen City Marathon has grown from its humble beginnings, in 2001, to become the largest road race in Saskatchewan today. With three days of races and over 6000 participants this has truly become a must attend event for runners and walkers alike. The GMS Queen City Marathon includes a race for every pace with a marathon, half marathon, 10K, two 5K’s and a kid’s mini marathon spread throughout the second weekend in September.
