Welcome to Kaunas International Marathon – the biggest running event in Kaunas. We are proud of our long history, record beating runners as well as creating a supporting and friendly community for all running enthusiasts. Whether you’re beating the marathon record or your personal best at 5 km – we’re here to help, support and make sure you do your best while having a great time! Kaunas Marathon offers a unique course that starts and ends at the very heart of Kaunas city – City Hall. The track is certified by AIMS and WA and is one of the flattest courses in Europe. Also you’ll be able to run through Kaunas historic old town dating back to the 14th century, our beautiful riverside as well as some modern and impressive wall art. All along the course you will find refreshments as well as our volunteers always ready to help and provide support or a much needed cheer. The Belgrade Marathon (Beogradski Maraton) is one of the biggest sporting events in Serbia. A group of enthusiasts came up with a plan to restore the race that existed in 1910 from Obrenovac to Belgrade. The first modern marathon in Belgrade took place on May 8, 1988. The track length of the original 1910 marathon was 23 km with several checkpoints. The track length of the 1989 marathon was 46.7 km, with the start and finish being in front of the Federal Parliament Building. Since 1990 the Belgrade Marathon has a standard 42.195 km length. The 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia did not prevent the Marathon from taking place that year, and on April 17 the race was held as a metered group run. About 40 runners from nine countries crossed the finish line at 3 hours 15 minutes and 16 seconds. The runners from NATO countries were Zane Branson from the USA, and Michael Turzynski and Heinz Lorber from Germany. The latter two are also founding members of the German 100 Marathon Club. The Borneo Marathon is a marathon held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. The inaugural race was held on October 12, 2008. This is the first marathon in the state for over 20 years. The first marathon in Sabah was held in 1984 and it was called the Daily Express Sabah Marathon. The next marathon was called the Borneo International Marathon (BIM). BIM was organized by Championship Sport Events Sdn. Bhd., helmed by Mr. Andrew Voon as the Race Director as well as the person instrumental in organizing the Borneo International Marathon. The first BIM had three categories, 10km, 21km and 42km and was participated by a mere 529 runners. Founded in 1995, the Prague Marathon, is known to be one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. The Leiden Marathon is known for its good organization, personal attention for every runner, enthusiastic spectators and fine atmosphere. With the most beautiful course in The Netherlands with start and finish in the heart of an 900-year old city (where Rembrandt was born and the Pilgrims Fathers lived for 12 years). The marathon of Leiden (also called Leiden Marathon) is a running race over 42,195 km, held annually in Leiden since 1991. For the full marathon with a time limit of six hours applies. A Marathon with mountain flavors between the towns of Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Seez. A double loop of 21,097KM, the race follows small paved country roads, in a wooded, green and shaded setting. The course is hilly with small hills along the cycle path which runs along the Isère on loan of 10KM. Then through the tree-lined paths of the Tarentaise, the runners will reach the Kayak base and the plain before Landry. The return will be done by the magnificent greenway which runs along the Isère for 5km before finishing this race in Bourg st Maurice. The race follows small paved country roads, in a wooded, pleasant, green and shaded setting. The course is hilly with small hills. This race is suitable for experienced and trained runners. Irelands toughest road marathon! Cyclists have long known the allure of the ‘Lap of the Gap’ circuit taking you from the village of Laragh to the highland pass of Sallygap and back past Lough Tay (the ‘Guinness Lake’). A scenic route with plenty of ups and plenty of downs. From quiet country back lanes to the barren and dramatic heather landscapes once you pass the Glenmacnass Waterfall.
