The SOX Trail Run is known as the most diverse 3-day trail run in South Africa and takes place in the Garden Route, with 90% of the route laid out within the South Africa National Park’s protected property. You will run on pristine hiking trails in the mountain on day one, experience the tranquility of our lush, indigenous forest on day two and end off, with day three, along the stunning coastline of the Garden Route. This three-day event can be likened to VIP access to some of the most pristine and isolated locations you can experience on our continent. Besides the fact it takes place in the countries top tourist destination it also showcases the complete variety the Garden Route in the Southern Cape has offer. The journey will take you through the mountains, forest and coastal terrains respectively. In the year 2012, Patagonian International Marathon® became the first marathon to take place in Torres del Paine National Park. Since that first edition, the event has occurred each year in the month of September, either inside the park or within its surroundings. The only interruption was in 2020 due to the pandemic. Since its origin, the event has brought together runners from more than 65 countries, converging together in the extreme south of Patagonia to fulfill the dream of running in one of the most pristine locations on the planet. The Oyster Catcher stage trail run follows the famous Oyster Catcher hiking route, from the Gouritz River Mouth to Mossel Bay via the St Blaize hiking route along the Southern Cape coastline in the Garden Route of South Africa. The Oystercatcher trail is a world acclaimed experience, a lighthouse to lighthouse trail rated by National Geographic Traveller as “One of the Top 50 tours of a lifetime” with the BBC classing it as one of “30 Unforgettable hikes to do…” and the local Getaway Magazine rating it as one of the top 5 South African hiking routes. The Oyster Catcher trail run is primarily designed for trail runners looking to complete their first multi-day stage race. The distances covered are manageable and the terrain is made up mainly of single track (hiking trails) and beach running, with some technical areas to add variety.
