THE 2024 UGANDA MARATHON One amazing week to challenge yourself & make a difference: Sunday 26th May – Sunday 2nd June 2024. Half or Full Marathon: 1 or 2 laps of our 13.1 mile course. Hills, rough terrain and an African sun makes this one of the toughest but most rewarding challenges that a runner can undertake! 10KM A beautiful run through picturesque Uganda, along half of the route. THE EVENT: Africa is claimed by some to be a Runner’s Paradise and Marathons in Africa are famous for providing a unique marathon experience. The Congo River Marathon is a marathon like no other and certainly race participants will definitely look forward to coming back. The event includes races from Full Marathon of 42,195 km, to Half Marathon of 21,098 km, to the Fun Run of 10 km. The Great Serengeti Migration Marathon & Anti-Poaching Run to begin was an idea formed by the event organizer SETSA –Serengeti in 2020. It is a racing event held over two consecutive days organized by Serengeti Tourism Sports Agency (SETSA) which uses sports to promote tourism and attract a numbers of tourists to the western side of the Serengeti National Park. This event’s name comes from one of the biggest events that happens yearly inside the Serengeti National Park, where some of the wildebeests and other Antelopes migrate between Serengeti National park -Tanzania and Maasai Mara National Reserve -Kenya. It is during this time when a large number of tourists visit the Serengeti to witness one of the world’s natural wonders. This event will allow participants to not just witness the migration but to be part of it by running between the groups of migrating wild animals along the Serengeti National Park, Ikona WMA, Ikorongo & Grumeti game reserves. The SOX Trail Run is known as the most diverse 3-day trail run in South Africa and takes place in the Garden Route, with 90% of the route laid out within the South Africa National Park’s protected property. You will run on pristine hiking trails in the mountain on day one, experience the tranquility of our lush, indigenous forest on day two and end off, with day three, along the stunning coastline of the Garden Route. The Oyster Catcher stage trail run follows the famous Oyster Catcher hiking route, from the Gouritz River Mouth to Mossel Bay via the St Blaize hiking route along the Southern Cape coastline in the Garden Route of South Africa. The Oystercatcher trail is a world acclaimed experience, a lighthouse to lighthouse trail rated by National Geographic Traveller as “One of the Top 50 tours of a lifetime” with the BBC classing it as one of “30 Unforgettable hikes to do…” and the local Getaway Magazine rating it as one of the top 5 South African hiking routes. The Oyster Catcher trail run is primarily designed for trail runners looking to complete their first multi-day stage race.
