The Borneo Marathon is a marathon held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. The inaugural race was held on October 12, 2008. This is the first marathon in the state for over 20 years. The first marathon in Sabah was held in 1984 and it was called the Daily Express Sabah Marathon. The next marathon was called the Borneo International Marathon (BIM). BIM was organized by Championship Sport Events Sdn. Bhd., helmed by Mr. Andrew Voon as the Race Director as well as the person instrumental in organizing the Borneo International Marathon. The Istanbul Marathon, the only intercontinental marathon in the world and a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race. The Istanbul Marathon, where tens of thousands of Istanbul come together every year and turn it into a feast. World Athletics certified Elite Label Road Race, the Istanbul Marathon starts on the Asian side of the city, crosses the Bridge over the Bosphurus Strait separating the two continents, and finishes on the European side in the ancient Roman Hippodrome, one of the oldest race courses in the world. Course highlights 42K RACE COURSE The race starts approximately 250 meters before the toll booths in front of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge bus stop. After crossing the bridge, the track goes down to the coastal road by following the Beşiktaş turnoff and Barbaros Boulevard.
