The Isle of Man Marathon is a competitor friendly event taking place on the picturesque course in the North of the Island, nestled between England and Ireland. The Half Marathon has been voted in ‘Runners’ World’ as one of the top ten races in the United Kingdom. Stunning Scenery and an undulating route await those who enter. The race, as in previous years, will be run over the Manx Northern course, starting and finishing in Ramsey. Start in Ramsey. Head along Mooragh Promenade past the site of the former Grand Island hotel and on to Bride. From there to Andreas and St Judes before turning back towards Ramsey. The Glencoe Marathon, the first marathon to be run through this amazing landscape, links Glen Nevis with the great Glencoe. Taking in two gruelling climbs, with a total ascent of 1369m as well as the Devil’s Staircase, a gruelling 240 metre descent over the eastern edge of the truly fearsome Aonach Eagach Ridge, runners will be rewarded at every turn with views of some of the most stunning and dramatic mountains in the Scottish Highlands. Set in the stunning surroundings of Denbies Vineyard near Dorking the Bacchus Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K have rapidly become must-do events on the UK running calendar.  Most of the field turn out in fancy dress, there are numerous bands playing around the course but it’s the drinks station on route that separates Bacchus from other running races and epitomise the spirit of the event. You will have the chance to sample six fabulous English wines, at five drinks stations along the course with two wines served at the last station, with food and soft drinks to accompany them. If you are running the marathon you go around twice which means 12 wines! Farnham Pilgrim Marathon ( or Half Marathon) has been described as possibly one of the prettiest trail Events in the UK. It is set to be one of the “must-do” events of the year again! The route is equally challenging but rewarding after all it is the Surrey Hills! The Farnham Pilgrim was awarded a trophy for the “Best New Event” after its inaugural running in 2010. Since that date it has been consistently highly-rated by participants. This is no ordinary Trail marathon, Its more of a Pilgrimage taking the Pilgrims way and North downs Way, passing 5 churches, an abbey, 2 Manor houses, ponds, rivers, old mills, Vineyards, even Llamas on the Marathon course! with stunning scenery. The race starts on Main Street. From there runners bear right along cobbles and through Sun Street towards Penistone Hill. After a brief uphill section, they pass the cricket ground and along Lee Lane to the nearby reservoir. The next four miles is on tarmac, over a stream and across an open moor to Withens Pub. The route continues across countryside, passing near Gatehouse and via Houghgate and Brookhouse reaching the halfway mark at the junction with the A629. The inward half starts along a footpath to Denholme Beck. Under a railway bridge to a reservoir, through allotments and over a viaduct, the route carries on through forest and across moorland to Hainworth Village. From there, runners pass along Black Moor Road, the nearby farmhouse and onto Penistone Hill. Then the last 1.2 miles onto the finish line. The Yorkshireman

A Local Marathon running event taking place in Rutland since 2016. The Rutland Marathon is a family organised event at one of the most beautiful venues in the country. The race takes place around the shores of one of Europe’s biggest man made reservoirs. The route includes tarmac, gravel and dirt tracks and includes most the circumference of the lake including the peninsula. The route passes meters from the waters edge and weaves through some of the country’s most precious wetland habitats. You may be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a mighty osprey, even if you don’t you will still encounter some of the best views this picturesque county has to offer. Amenities and facilities are dotted around the route with established tourist spots including car parks, toilets and cafes. The Surrey Hills Challenge charity event is one of the biggest sporting challenges in Surrey and returns for 2020. One day, six walking or running events, with six distances for people of all ages and fitness. The Ultra, a 60k run covering all terrains, the ultimate challenge; The Full, a 42k run or walk in the hills; The Half,a 21k walk or run over Leith Hil ; The Ten, a fast and furious 10k; The Five, a family challenge 5k, and a 1k kids’ fun run. The race starts and finishes in the shadow of Windsor Castle within Windsor Great Park, which is the only Royal Park managed by The Crown Estate. The Great Park was once part of a vast Norman hunting forest which was enclosed in the late thirteenth century. The antiquity of the landscape is enhanced by the scattering of great ancient oaks for which the Great Park and its forest are renowned. The Active Northumberland Kielder Marathon route follows an almost entirely off-road course around northern Europe’s largest man-made lake, Kielder Water, in Northumberland. Britain’s Most Beautiful Marathon is the finale to a weekend of events, starting with the Kielder 10K & Kielder Run Bike Run on Saturday 3rd October and followed by the Kielder Half Marathon and Junior races on Sunday 4th October. It all adds up to an electric atmosphere and a fabulous weekend in this beautiful part of the country. Marathon
